I’m a freelance journalist, writer, editor and storytelling strategist.
Here are a few things to know about me, at a glance:
I’ve been working in journalism for 10 years. My editing experience spans print, digital and email. I lead teams of writers, commission long- and short-form features and have done plenty of sub-editing in my time (I’m one of those people who loves getting stuck into a style guide).
For the most part, my journalism has focused on social and political issues – with a bit of lifestyle and culture thrown in. I write everything from deeply researched features to interviews and opinion pieces. I’m particularly interested in reporting on initiatives that seek to solve challenging societal problems and prevent harm before it occurs.
I also work in communications for social change. Currently, I juggle freelance journalism with a senior role at Citizens Advice, where I’m developing the national charity’s approach to lived-experience storytelling across areas including media, brand, events and policy. I’m fascinated by theories of narrative change and ethical, trauma-informed storytelling practises.
I spent much of my 20s working at Stylist magazine, where – as the publication’s first women’s editor – I spearheaded a campaign calling on the government to invest in preventing male violence against women. I was also deputy editor of Stylist’s flagship email newsletter.
I live in south London. I trained at City, University of London, where I gained an Distinction in Magazine Journalism (MA) in 2016.
